Although violent felony conviction rates are improving (41% overall), the 51% violent felony acceptance rate indicates ongoing disconnect between police and prosecution

By the Numbers

More than half (51%) of 2022 arrests have been for violent felony charges

51% of all violent felony cases have been accepted in 2022 – this is significantly dragged  down by the extremely low (34%) acceptance rate for domestic violence felony charges

Overall, 41% of violent felony cases closed in 2022 have resulted in a felony conviction

Domestic and non-domestic battery/assault cases make up a 52% majority of closed felony cases

However, a FAR smaller percentage of domestic violence felonies are closed compared with other types of violent felonies
