At least 71 people have been murdered in 2022 to date, which represents a substantial increase relative to prior years (+122% compared with 2019; +48% compared with 2021)

Nonfatal shooting rates show a smaller change relative to 2021 (+8%) but are much higher compared to 2019 (+133%)

Carjacking still shows the highest rate of increase across prior years – the 112 reported to date in 2022 represent a 367% increase over 2019 and 58% increase over 2021

To date, we have lost 47 NOPD officers, with the recent academy class containing only 18 new cadets

Some major arrests have been made recently, let’s hope we start seeing these numbers come down soon!
