Year over year, New Orleans continues to show steep declines in homicide and nonfatal shooting victims.

There are similar numbers of reported carjackings and armed robberies compared to last year, but reductions of -80% and -68%, respectively, compared to 2022.

From August 3-9, 2026, there were seven reported major violent crimes, including one homicide by shooting, three nonfatal shootings, and three armed robberies.

For the second week in a row, there were no reported major violent crimes in the 4th (Algiers), 5th (Ninth Ward/Marigny), or 8th (French Quarter/Downtown) Districts.
