

Crime Trends: Week of July 11, 2022
After rectifying our homicide list across multiple agencies, we have updated the total number of homicides to 159 as of July 10, 2022. This number includes vehicular, negligent, and justified homicides, but does NOT include individuals who died of remote injuries (i.e., injury sustained pre-2022)
-This puts us 141% higher relative to 2019, 89% higher than 2020, and 56% higher than the same time last year
Although shootings remain 10% lower than 2021, we are still seeing a higher rate of fatal shootings compared with prior years. At least 1/3 of 2022 shootings have resulted in a fatality
Carjacking is up a bit – 8% higher than 2021, nearly 4 times higher than 2019 (+193%)
Armed robbery is starting to show sharper increases relative to 2021 – currently, we are 35% higher than the same time last year, 52% higher than in 2020 – only 26% higher relative to 2019
