At 120 to date, homicides continue to soar past prior years – we are currently 135% higher relative to 2019 and 50% higher relative to 2021
Shooting incidents are 88% higher relative to 2019 but remain slightly (-5%) lower relative to 2021. We are continuing to see incidents with multiple victims, so the 196 incidents reported to date is likely far lower than the actual number of individuals wounded by gunfire in 2022
Three more carjacking incidents last week brings us to 130, a 183% increase relative to 2019 and a 14% increase over 2021 – still not seeing anything close to the numbers that we were in January 2022
Finally, armed robbery still shows the most stability across the last 4 years (with the exception of the lockdown in 2020) – we are 20% higher relative to 2019 and 23% higher relative to 2021
Summer is here – stay safe and have a great week!
