Second District Trends 2023
The 2nd District typically has a relatively low HOMICIDE rate, though rates have doubled since 2019. The past three years have shown no change in 2nd District homicides.
NONFATAL SHOOTING incidents are also lower in the 2nd District than nearly any other in the city
CARJACKING in the 2nd DIstrict has followed a similar pattern as the rest of the city – far higher rates and a more drastic spike in Q1 2022 compared to other years/categories
Of note, the 2nd District ranks 3rd among the eight NOPD Districts in reported ARMED ROBBERY incidents.
Only armed robbery continues to show upward trends in the 2nd District compared with 2019-2022 Q1 rates
