6th District 2023 Trends

 

The 6th District has shown the largest increase in HOMICIDE since 2022 (+71%).  At the end of Q1 2023, the 6th District accounted for 18% of Orleans’ homicides, second only to the 7th District

 

SHOOTING INCIDENTS in the 6th District have also shown significant increases compared with the prior 4 years.  Since 2022, nonfatal shootings in the 6th District have increased by 45% and account for 14% of Orleans’ shooting incidents as of the end of Q1

 

CARJACKING incidents have declined significantly (-54%) compared with the same time period last year, accounting for 12% of Orleans’ carjacking incidents at the end of Q1 2023  

 

ARMED ROBBERY has shown marginal decreases in the 6th District compared with Q1 2019-2022.  As of Q1 2023, the 6th District accounted for only 7% of armed robbery incidents
At the end of Q1 2023, the 6th District ranked 2nd out of 8 NOPD Districts in homicide – an alarming statistic given the small size and population of the 6th District
