Third District Trends 2023

 

Third District HOMICIDE is the only violent crime that continues to increase compared with past years

 

NONFATAL SHOOTING incidents were higher in both Q1 2021 and 2022 compared with Q1 2023

 

CARJACKING incidents have fallen 40% since their peak in 2021 (most of the city had higher carjacking rates in 2022), and -10% since 2022. Nonetheless, at the end of Q1 2023, the 3rd District ranked # 1 in Orleans carjacking incidents and accounted for 18% of all reported

 

In contrast, ARMED ROBBERY rates in the 3rd District have decreased 68% since 2022 – numbers are lower than any other NOPD District, accounting for 6% of total reported armed robberies.
