As we enter the last month of 2022, we are starting to get a better idea of what the violent crime totals are going to look like compared with prior years.
At 255 homicides to date, we have already surpassed year-end totals dating back to pre-Katrina.
Nonfatal shooting incidents currently stand at 439 and have remained somewhat stable over the year
Carjacking incidents have remained considerably higher (+173%) compared with 2019, but have slowed down since the beginning of 2022.
Armed robbery incidents continue to outpace prior years at an alarming rate — this is the only category of major violent crime that has shown growth, rather than decline, in the 2nd half of 2022.
