WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

By the Numbers

In 2022, there have been 1,243 violent felony arrests – 385 (31%) of which were for domestic violence (DV) felonies

In that same time (January 1-August 18, 2022), 623 DV felonies were screened with only a 32% acceptance rate – far below the 70% average acceptance rate for all other felony crimes of violence

Even fewer domestic violence felonies result in felony conviction– only 123 of the 546 closed violent felony cases were for DV felony cases, with 12% of closed DV felonies resulting in a felony conviction – significantly lower than the 50% felony conviction rate for all other felony crimes of violence
