As of June 30th, 2023, the 4th District had fewer armed robbery incidents than any other district (ranked eighth of eight NOPD districts).
However, carjacking incidents have remained near 2022 numbers, showing a much slower rate of decrease than the citywide 43% reduction in carjacking.

2023 Fourth District Trends
HOMICIDE (+67% since 2019; +25% since 2020; +43% since 2021; -23% since 2022)
Similar to citywide trends, homicide in the 4th District peaked in 2022 and has declined in the first half of 2023, falling from 14 as of June 30, 2022 to 10 as of the same time in 2023.
The second quarter of 2023 has seen a relatively large number of homicides in the 4th District, with 8 homicides between April 1-June 30, 2023.
NONFATAL SHOOTING INCIDENTS (+67% since 2019; -32% since 2020; +15% since 2021; -32% since 2022).
4th District nonfatal shooting incidents are typically low, although shootings spiked to 22 in 2020 and again in 2022. Since last year, 4th District shooting incidents have fallen 32%, from 22 to 15 as of June 30, 2023.
2023 Fourth District Trends
CARJACKING (+400% since 2019; +233% since 2020; +150% since 2021; -17% since 2022).
Carjacking and armed robbery are relatively low in the 4th District. Although carjacking has increased by 400% since 2019, this represents an increase from two carjacking incidents to 10 as of June 30, 2023.
ARMED ROBBERY (+13% since 2019; +113% since 2020; +3% since 2021; no change since 2022).
4th District armed robbery is the lowest of any NOPD district as of June 30, 2023.
Robbery and carjacking incidents are more concentrated at larger intersections, namely General DeGaulle and Holiday Drive in Algiers.
